BROKEN ARROW, OK – A horrifying murder-suicide incident involving two siblings has left a community in shock. Broken Arrow police are investigating the case where they believe a 17-year-old boy shot and killed his 14-year-old sister before taking his own life.
Responding to a call near 111th and Aspen shortly before 2 p.m. on February 11, police officers discovered the siblings’ lifeless bodies inside their family home. The family supposedly found the deceased siblings, but it remains unclear whether they were at home when the tragedy took place or discovered the horrifying scene upon returning home.
“It’s unusual. It’s very unfortunate,” a Broken Arrow police representative expressed, conveying the profound impact such incidents of domestic violence have on the community and the directly affected family.
Neighbor Gary Crittenden, although unfamiliar with the siblings, praised their parents as “great, wonderful neighbors.”
Broken Arrow Public Schools also issued a statement about the murder-suicide. They acknowledged that the deceased teens were both students in the district. The institution is preparing to mobilize additional counselors to provide grief counseling at their school sites.
The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, marking the end of an ill-fated chapter that has saddened the local community.
