Three people shot outside McDonald’s

CHICAGO, IL – A typically bustling corner in Chicago was rocked by gunfire Thursday afternoon, leaving one man dead and two others injured near a popular McDonald’s on 95th Street, just off the Dan Ryan Expressway. The incident, which unfolded around 3 p.m., has sent shockwaves through the community and drawn attention to ongoing concerns about violence in the area.

Pastor Donovan Pryce, a local anti-violence advocate, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. His church is located just a short distance from the scene, and he frequently conducts community outreach efforts at this very intersection. He lamented the violence that marred a place he often visits to promote peace and unity.

Police reported that a vehicle approached the McDonald’s, and an individual inside opened fire, discharging at least 29 rounds. Among the victims was a 39-year-old woman who suffered a gunshot wound to her arm. She is expected to recover. A 27-year-old man is in good condition after being wounded, but tragically, a 29-year-old man succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

The chaotic scene left clothing and bullet casings scattered across the sidewalk. Witnesses described a harrowing moment when one of the injured men ran back into the McDonald’s, collapsing into the arms of a bus operator. Another victim attempted to flee toward Maxwell Street but ultimately died from his injuries.

Pastor Pryce emphasized the timing of the shooting, noting the heavy traffic and potential for even greater harm. “It’s a busy street, especially during rush hour,” he said. “In the midst of the tragedy, we must be thankful it wasn’t worse.”

As police continue their investigation, questions remain about whether the victims were targeted or if they were related. No arrests have been made, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The incident underscores the persistent challenge of addressing violence in the community. Pastor Pryce remains committed to his mission, spending time in the area to offer prayers and support for residents grappling with the aftermath of the shooting.

The community, while shaken, is rallying together to support one another and demand justice for the victims. As the investigation unfolds, residents hope for a swift resolution that will bring peace to their neighborhood.
