Tobacco store owner kills burglar in self-defense

NORWALK, CA – A business owner acted in self-defense during a dangerous robbery. He shot at three burglary suspects who attempted to rob his tobacco store in Norwalk on Tuesday morning. The incident took place around 9 a.m. in the 10900 block of East Firestone Boulevard, as per the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

One of the co-owners reported that his business partner was pepper-sprayed by one of the suspects during the attempt. In response, he picked up his gun and opened fire, hitting one of the intruders. Following this, all three suspects tried to escape on foot as their getaway vehicle was blocked.

The injured suspect was discovered in a nearby alleyway. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, as reported by the sheriff’s department. His identity has not been publicly disclosed yet.

The other two suspects fled to a residential area, which led authorities to set up a perimeter in that location, according to the sheriff’s department. Both suspects were eventually located and detained.

Anyone who has further information regarding the case is encouraged to get into contact with the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau or Crime Stoppers.
