On Saturday evening, a devastating shooting occurred at Cal Anderson Park. The park, located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, experienced a shooting that left two men dead and another critically wounded.
One of the victims was found dead at the scene, while the second succumbed to his injuries at Harborview Medical Center. The third individual, who sustained life-threatening injuries, was also transported to Harborview.
Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz held a news conference at Cal Anderson Park shortly after midnight on Sunday, stating that officers had initially responded to reports of violence around 10:30 p.m. Police are currently searching for a fourth man who may be associated with the shooting and are seeking video footage from the area.
The police department has not yet released information regarding whether the shooter remains at large, if multiple shooters were involved, or any details about the circumstances leading to the incident.
The shooting took place in the heart of Seattle’s bustling nightlife district, as crowds filled the neighborhood’s bars and restaurants on one of the year’s first warm evenings.
According to Seattle crime data, Saturday’s incident marks at least the eighth shooting to occur on Capitol Hill in 2023.
