PALM COAST, FL — Two adult men died in an apparent murder-suicide at a home on Bronson Lane early Tuesday, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, which continued investigating the shooting hours after deputies arrived.
The shooting occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Aug. 25 in Palm Coast’s B Section, authorities said. Chief Deputy Joseph Barile confirmed the two deaths during an early-morning update near the scene. Officials had not publicly identified either man as investigators worked to notify their families.
Barile said the Sheriff’s Office remained at the home conducting an active investigation. Authorities characterized the deaths as an apparent murder-suicide but had not released a detailed sequence of events or explained what led to the shooting. The agency said there was no continuing threat to the public.
Crime scene tape blocked part of Bronson Lane as deputies and detectives worked around the property Tuesday morning. A Sheriff’s Office crime scene vehicle and patrol units were also seen near the home as investigators processed the scene, according to local reporting.
FlaglerLive reported that other people were inside the home when the shooting occurred and were safe. The outlet also reported that the person who entered the residence was known to the occupants and to the other man who died. Authorities had not publicly provided further details about those relationships as of Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators secured a search warrant while working at the residence, FlaglerLive reported. The Sheriff’s Office had not publicly disclosed what evidence investigators recovered or whether additional interviews, forensic testing or other investigative steps had changed the agency’s preliminary assessment of the deaths.
The identities and ages of the two men had not been released. Authorities also had not announced a motive or provided information about the circumstances that brought the men together at the Bronson Lane home. No additional injuries were reported in the information released Tuesday.
The Sheriff’s Office described the case as active and ongoing. Barile said during the morning briefing that officials would provide more information when they were able to answer questions, but the agency had not announced additional findings by Tuesday afternoon.
