Two teens and one adult charged with attempted murder

WELLINGTON, FL – A 15-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy, and a 24-year-old relative face charges of attempted first-degree murder following a July incident where shots were fired into a Wellington home. Fortunately, none of the five occupants, including two adults and three teenagers, were injured.

Authorities describe the attack as premeditated, with all three suspects allegedly playing distinct roles. The shooting may have been triggered by a conflict involving an ex-girlfriend and a firearm linked to another shooting in April.

The accused include 17-year-old Tyler Mariupol, 24-year-old Luther Mariupol, and 15-year-old Jamia Collins. On July 17, deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the residence. A 20-year-old man inside mentioned prior issues with his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Tyler.

Investigators discovered multiple bullet holes and a 9mm shell casing near the front bathroom window. Security footage reportedly captured a male suspect in a hooded sweatshirt approaching the window, and a witness saw the suspect fleeing with a gun.

A search of Tyler Mariupol’s mother’s vehicle uncovered a Glock pistol with an extended magazine, along with clothing matching the shooter’s description. Authorities assert that Collins provided transportation using her brother’s car without permission, while Tyler orchestrated the attack and secured ammunition.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office crime lab confirmed the Glock as the weapon used in both the Wellington shooting and a previous incident in April at another Palm Beach County location.

Typically, minors are not identified, but the State Attorney’s Office plans to charge them as adults.
