MEMPHIS, TN – A fatal shooting incident in the Binghamton area of Memphis led to murder charges against two teenagers. The suspects, Conner Tucker, 15, and Edio White, 18, are accused of allegedly participating in a shooting that resulted in the death of another 15-year-old boy on Thursday.
According to the Memphis Police Department, both teens face charges of first-degree murder during the action of a robbery, criminal attempt at an aggravated robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Police revealed that Tucker confessed to his involvement in the shooting. Additional information on whether he would be charged as an adult was not immediately available. White is alleged to have been the driver of the vehicle used during the shooting. Anthony Mason has been identified as the victim who tragically lost his life at the scene on the 300 block of Vandalia Street.
Investigators shared that the incident occurred Thursday morning when Mason was seen interacting with people inside a Hyundai Sonata and a gun exchange took place. A struggle ensued for possession of a gun, at which point a second suspect drew a gun and shot Mason in the head. The suspects then fled from the scene, leaving the victim to die.
On examining the deceased victim’s phone, detectives found text messages that suggested an arranged weapons trade between Mason and one of the suspects.
White’s court records indicate his confession to driving the shooting vehicle. He allegedly knew the intended plan was to rob the victim. The gun used to murder the victim reportedly belonged to White. White’s court appearance is scheduled for November 27.
