Woman, 19, Shot to Death in Her Apartment Bedroom

The Tulsa Police Department is investigating its eighth homicide of the year following the death of 19-year-old Braylee Owens. The young woman was shot multiple times while in bed.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., police received a call from a distraught individual reporting that their girlfriend had been seriously shot. Officers arrived at the Cobblestone Apartments near 51st and Memorial to find that the woman had been struck multiple times in the head and neck.

First responders provided immediate medical attention, and the victim was then transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Sadly, police confirmed around 11 a.m. that Owens had passed away due to her injuries. She was just days away from celebrating her 20th birthday.

Describing the shooting as a cowardly act, Lt. Brandon Watkins expressed his disdain for the violence that took place within the victim’s home. A total of five bullet holes were found in the bedroom window of the victim, with another hole in the hallway and several more through another second-level window.

According to Lt. Christopher O’Keefe, it appears that the shooter fired from outside the apartment, targeting the second-story residence. The police have now launched a homicide investigation and are urging anyone with information about the crime to contact Tulsa Crime Stoppers.
