HAYWARD, CA – A woman and her alleged lover were arrested over a month after the stabbing death of her husband. On October 8, authorities in Hayward police received reports of an assault and found Parwiz Assar, 51, suffering from stab wounds at the scene. He was pronounced dead at the site.
An investigation led to 21-year-old Samim Azizi in Seattle being arrested and held without bail at King County Jail, pending extradition to California. Assar’s wife, 35-year-old Razma Mohammad-Ibrahim, was arrested in Hayward two weeks later. She is being held without bail at Santa Rita County Jail. Mohammad-Ibrahim and Assar’s marriage of 12 years had been rocky, and Mohammad-Ibrahim had developed a romantic relationship with Azizi around December 2022.
It is alleged that Mohammad-Ibrahim and Azizi planned to murder Assar so she could end the marriage, earn full custody of her children, and inherit the family assets, Hayward police said. Surveillance video, internet searches, and incriminating text messages from Azizi to Mohammad-Ibrahim were collected as evidence in the case.
On the night of the attack, Assar’s ring doorbell camera recorded a masked man ambushing him from a bush as he walked to his front door. A few hours after the attack, a friend of Assar told the police that Assar had confided in him about fearing an attack plotted by his wife.
Hayward Police Department’s investigation was assisted by the U.S. Marshals Service, the Renton Police Department, the Washington State Crime Lab, and the Washington State Department of Corrections. The couple’s young children are currently with other family members.
