BRANTHAM, UK – Police in Brantham, Suffolk, have detained a suspect for his involvement in an attempted murder case that left a dog-walking woman in a critical state. Anita Rose, 57, was found unconscious and suffering from a head injury on a Brantham track by a passerby early on Wednesday morning.
Following an immediate transfer to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, Rose is still in critical condition. A 45-year-old man from the Ipswich area was apprehended on Saturday in relation to the attempted murder. He is now being held in police custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre. According to official statements, there is no known connection between the victim and the suspect.
Rose was discovered near the sewage works and railway line close to River Stour estuary, off Rectory Lane. She is thought to have been out walking her springer spaniel, Bruce, since 5:00 am that day.
Detective Inspector Mike Brown mentioned, “We are still looking to establish the exact circumstances leading to this incident, but our initial inquiries are underway, and these will continue over the weekend.” DI Brown also urged the local community to share any relevant information.
Moments before the incident, Rose was wearing a distinctive pink jacket, which police are currently searching for, along with her missing mobile phone. The victim’s family is receiving support from police.
