Woman murdered by her ex-boyfriend on her way home from work

ANNANDALE, VA – A horrifying incident unfolded in Annandale on Friday when a woman was fatally shot as a result of a domestic dispute, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The incident took place right off Woodburn Road, in close proximity to the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. During a press briefing, the police stated the victim was employed at the medical campus. It is speculated that she was making her way home after a work shift when her ex-boyfriend emerged, trapped her, and commenced firing while she was on a phone call with emergency dispatchers.

The assailant reportedly fled the scene instantaneously. Medics rushed the critically injured woman to a local hospital, where, unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators were able to get the license plate numbers of the suspect’s vehicle from surveillance videos. Cameras picked up the vehicle as it entered Maryland. In response, Fairfax County Police connected with Prince George’s County Police department to facilitate the suspect’s capture.

Fairfax County Police also disclosed, during their preliminary investigation, the presence of a temporary restraining order against the suspect, effective at the time of the shooting. The identities of the parties involved are yet to be disclosed. However, both are believed to be in their 30s.

After capturing the suspect, Prince George’s County police officers discovered a firearm in the suspect’s car. The weapon is slated for testing to ascertain whether it was used during the fatal shooting.

Further collaboration between the Fairfax County Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police Department will help to determine more details about the restraining order, other potential triggers for such events, and the specifics of their relationship since they both resided in Maryland.
