A woman tragically lost her life during a heated altercation with her husband at her own birthday party. The incident occurred in Hardin County, Kentucky, where Jordan Mykol Harding allegedly shot and killed his wife, Ashley Henning. The couple, both active duty service members, had been engaged in a fight while partygoers attempted to intervene. The situation escalated, resulting in multiple gunshots being fired.
Henning left the scene in a hurry, but was apprehended shortly after. Harding has been charged with murder – domestic violence and could face a lengthy prison sentence if convicted.
Jordan Mykol Harding, 33, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Ashley Henning, 32, during her birthday celebration on Monday night. Local news organizations in Hardin County, Kentucky, reported that multiple rounds were fired by Harding during the altercation. Lieutenant Colonel David Lee of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office stated that alcohol was being consumed at the party and that the couple had been involved in an ongoing argument.
Despite efforts from party attendees to defuse the situation, their attempts were unsuccessful. As neighbors left the premises with the couple’s children, they heard the sound of gunshots.
The authorities were alerted to the incident at 9:47 p.m. and promptly dispatched to the scene. Henning was apprehended shortly after leaving the house. The arrest citation revealed that Harding expressed remorse for harming his wife. He now faces charges of murder and domestic violence, which could result in a prison sentence ranging from 20 to 50 years. He could even receive a sentence of life imprisonment if found guilty.
A preliminary hearing for Henning is scheduled for June 30, as per Kentucky court records. Presently, he is being held in custody at the Harding County Detention Center while he is waiting to receive his sentence.
