Young 24-year-old dad shot dead while walking to work

CHICAGO, IL – A violent incident shook Chicago’s Northwest Side early Friday, resulting in the tragic death of a 24-year-old man. The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was on his way to work when an unidentified person reportedly shot him in the chest around 7 a.m. in the 3900 block of North Pittsburgh Avenue.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Loyola Hospital in critical condition. Despite first responders making efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries. Surveillance footage provides a glimpse of the assailant fleeing southbound on Pittsburgh Avenue, donned in dark attire.

An anonymous woman who overheard the gunshot undoubtedly displayed her courage by rushing to the aid of the critically injured man. In an attempt to stop the bleeding, she removed her sweatshirt and applied it to his chest wound as they awaited the arrival of medical professionals.

Although she had no prior connection to the young man, their interaction led her to understand that he was a father on his way to work. “This isn’t any indication of the nature of the neighborhood,” says Ald.

Nicholas Sposato (38th) describes the video capturing the incident as deeply alarming. As per his remark, the police are considering the shooting to be an isolated incident. No suspects have been apprehended as of late Friday, and the case has been handed over to Area detectives for review as a homicide.
