11-year-old boy killed in post-game shooting near baseball stadium

ALBUQUERQUE, NM- An 11-year-old boy lost his life in a deadly shooting incident on Wednesday night. The gunfire broke out following a family outing at Isotopes Park, as per the latest information from local law enforcement. The family was driving away from the park when their vehicle cut off another car, stated APD Chief Harold Medina.

The other vehicle, in response, made a U-turn and confronted the family on Avenida Cesar Chavez. Subsequently, an individual from the second vehicle opened fire on the family’s vehicle, discharging a shocking total of 17 rounds before fleeing the scene.

Despite the presence of police officers in the bustling vicinity, they were patrolling on foot and were unable to intervene in time. Upon reaching the scene, the officers discovered the family’s vehicle which was positioned westbound adjacent to the median. The car was riddled with 14 bullet holes, predominantly on the passenger side.

Inside the vehicle, the officers made the grim discovery of the 11-year-old boy who had been shot. The child had passed away due to his severe injuries. Another family member was found in a critical condition. The Albuquerque police department is set to release further details about the suspect vehicle.

In the meantime, the police are urging anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to come forward with any information they may have.
