Armed bystander kills gunman who shot two people

SEATTLE, WA – The quiet of Seattle’s bustling tourism district was shattered by gunfire, leaving a tragic scene that unfolded in the heart of the city. A teenager identified as Kale Nussbaum, at just 16 years old, became the center of a deadly confrontation that ended in his death and left two others injured.

Witnesses and surveillance footage paint a vivid picture of the chaos that erupted. Kelly, a worker at a nearby condominium, surveyed the aftermath—shattered windows and bullet-riddled walls telling the grim story of what transpired outside.

Residents were fortunate; the gunfire did not reach occupied units. However, the street became the stage for a grim encounter. As Kelly arrived at work, the incident dominated conversations, a chilling reminder of the violence that had unfolded.

According to police, Nussbaum shot two individuals before a bystander, who happened to be armed, intervened. The bystander, not involved in the initial confrontation, acted swiftly, fatally shooting the teenager. The scene was chaotic, with sirens blaring through the city.

Further investigation revealed that a group of youths was walking down Union Street when they were confronted by others on scooters and a bicycle, blocking their path. It was during this confrontation that Nussbaum drew a gun and opened fire, hitting two people.

The bystander’s intervention was swift and decisive, preventing further casualties. Investigators noted that the armed bystander remained on the scene and cooperated fully with authorities, resulting in no arrests.

Reflecting on the incident, Kelly expressed gratitude for the bystander’s actions, acknowledging the potential for more harm. The community echoed this sentiment, grappling with the reality of violence in their midst.

Seattle police have stated that the area is already heavily patrolled and, despite the incident, no additional security measures are planned. Meanwhile, one of the wounded individuals has been discharged from the hospital, while the other continues to recover.
