GLENDALE, AZ – A brazen crime spree unfolded in Glendale last week, culminating in a dramatic high-speed chase and the arrest of two suspects. The incident, which was captured on security cameras, began when a local man withdrew $50,000 from a bank with the intent of purchasing a truck. Unbeknownst to him, he was being tailed by two individuals who had sinister plans for the cash.
The Glendale Police Department reported that the suspects observed the victim withdrawing the large sum and decided to follow him. The man, who has not been publicly identified, drove to a residential area to meet the truck’s seller, unaware that the suspects were close behind. As he left his vehicle unlocked, one suspect seized the opportunity, snatching the cash and making a swift getaway.
The truck seller witnessed the theft and alerted the victim, sparking a frantic car chase through the streets of Glendale. The pursuit, marked by reckless driving, ended when the suspects’ vehicle crashed at a busy intersection. The suspects, identified as Raymond Pouncey and Reginald Chapman, attempted to flee on foot, each heading in different directions.
Police quickly responded to the scene, apprehending both Pouncey and Chapman. Officers recovered most of the stolen money from the suspects’ car, although some bills were scattered across the street, carried by the wind. Despite the chaos, no serious injuries were reported.
Jose Santiago, a spokesperson for the Glendale Police Department, emphasized the importance of vigilance when handling large sums of money. “When withdrawing cash from a bank, always be aware of your surroundings,” Santiago advised. “Taking precautions can help protect you from becoming a target.”
Court documents revealed that both suspects hail from Texas and have extensive criminal histories. They now face multiple charges, including burglary and theft, and are expected to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
