Employee killed in parking lot dispute, co-worker arrested

THORNTON, CO – An argument between two employees outside a Denver-area business escalated into a deadly shooting. The fatal incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Saturday. The gunfire broke out in the Topgolf parking lot located at 16011 Grant Street, Thornton.

When the Thornton police responded to a 911 call about the shooting, they discovered a 22-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Though emergency services rushed the victim to the hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The alleged shooter, 26-year-old Victor Salazar-Guarache, reportedly fled the scene after the incident. However, deputies from the Weld County Sheriff’s Office apprehended him later. Currently, Salazar-Guarache is in custody at the Adams County Detention Center, awaiting charges.

Investigators are still trying to piece together the events that led up to the deadly shooting. Meanwhile, Topgolf temporarily closed its venue in Thornton and has contracted a private security company to guard the entrance to their property.

Expressing their shock at the incident, Topgolf’s official statement recognized the heartfelt grief of those affected by this tragedy. The company announced its full cooperation with the ongoing investigation and affirmed its commitment to support its employees during this challenging period.

Furthermore, the venue provided counseling services to its employees and kept its facility closed on Saturday.
