SILVER CITY, NM – The family of Joel Dino Valdez, a 36-year-old veteran and father, is pleading for help as the search for him enters its second week. Valdez, who worked as a lineman, disappeared without a trace while on his way home from work, leaving his loved ones and the community in distress.
Valdez was last seen on September 18th at a job site in Silver City. He texted his wife that he was heading back to Coyote, New Mexico, making his usual stops at a gas station and ATM in Santa Fe. However, after these routine activities, he vanished, sparking concern and confusion.
Described as a dedicated family man, Valdez’s sudden disappearance is uncharacteristic. His cousin, Monnique Garcia, emphasized that Valdez is a creature of habit, making his disappearance all the more baffling. “He always came home, even if it was just on weekends,” Garcia said. “This is completely out of character.”
The family’s efforts to locate Valdez have gained traction on social media, with strangers joining search parties. They hope someone might have seen something that could lead to answers. Despite the widespread attention, questions linger about whether Valdez could have disappeared intentionally, but his family firmly believes otherwise.
Investigations by the New Mexico State Police began on Saturday, but so far, no significant leads have emerged. Valdez’s family is urging anyone with information to come forward, as the absence of their loved one weighs heavily on them.
Valdez is described as 5’11” and weighing 175 pounds. He was likely wearing a dark-colored shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap when he disappeared. Authorities have also released details about his vehicle, a white Chevy Silverado 2500 with New Mexico plates 248 THP, in hopes of jogging the memory of potential witnesses.
His family remains hopeful that the community will rally to provide any clues that might lead to his whereabouts. “For him not to be sleeping in his bed tonight is heartbreaking for all of us,” a family member expressed, urging the public to assist in the search.
As the investigation continues, the family is organizing more search efforts, desperate for a breakthrough. Time is of the essence, and they hope that the public’s vigilance will help bring Valdez home safely.
