Family found dead in apparent murder-suicide

UNION, NJ – In a deadly incident of a murder-suicide in Union, New Jersey, a woman allegedly shot her husband and their two daughters before she killed herself. Law enforcement discovered this horrifying scene in a Lincrest Terrace residence on Wednesday morning.

The Union County Sheriff’s Department, who arrived on the scene for an unrelated matter, was the first to find the corpses. The grim discovery included the bodies of a male and female adult and two young females, all victims of lethal gunshot wounds.

The victims, identified as family members, included Ruben Alarcon, 51, Andrea Alarcon, 42, and their two daughters. A joint investigation between the Union Police Department and Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force alleged that Andrea Alarcon was the perpetrator in this tragedy, having shot her husband and children and then ending her own life.

The murder weapon authorities believe was used in this grisly incident has been located near Andrea Alarcon’s body.

Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel expressed his condolences to the community. “In tragedies of this magnitude,” Daniel shared, “there are no words that can heal.” He also mentioned that no explanation could help the public make sense of the horrifying tragedy. Daniel extended well wishes to the loved ones of the victims and the Union community during these trying times.
