NORTH BEND, WA – A murder-suicide involving a former CEO of Seattle Humane and his wife has sparked deep concern in North Bend. David Loewe, previously the CEO of Seattle Humane, was identified as the man who fatally shot his wife, Judy Loewe.
Reportedly, after shooting his wife, David placed her body in a large freezer located in their apartment’s garage. He then turned the gun on himself and ended his own life.
The gruesome incident came to light when maintenance workers, conducting a welfare check in line with an eviction process, discovered David’s lifeless body on January 31, says the Snoqualmie Police Department. Responding officers discovered Judy’s body stored in the garage freezer.
While preliminary findings indicate the incident to be a solitary murder-suicide, the investigation continues, according to the police. Post-autopsy findings from the King County Medical Examiner’s Office on February 5 revealed that Judy died from a single gunshot wound before being stowed in the freezer. David’s death was due to a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were aged 60.
Confirming David as their former CEO in a statement, Seattle Humane expressed their grief and concern over the shocking incident. Joining as staff in 2006 after his stint as a volunteer, David was appointed CEO in 2011 and concluded his tenure in August 2019.
The organization waits for the outcome of the full investigation while extending its heartfelt condolences to those affected by the tragic loss.
