PRESCOTT, AZ – A 62-year-old woman is currently being held in custody after allegedly shooting her estranged husband in his bed. The incident occurred in Prescott, Arizona, where local police responded to reports of a shooting that took place at a residence on Thoroughbred Drive. The gunfire broke out shortly after midnight on Wednesday.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered an 80-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his wrist. The victim was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital for further medical attention. The man’s wife, Christina Pasqualetto, was apprehended at the scene.
The victim informed the police that he and Pasqualetto had been living separately for several months and were in the midst of divorce proceedings. He had recently changed the locks on his Prescott home, but noticed that keys and other items had mysteriously disappeared. This led to him being suspicious of his wife, believing that she might have taken the items.
Following her arrest, Pasqualetto allegedly confessed to investigators that she had driven from her residence in Gilbert to Prescott as she was opposed to the divorce. She reportedly arrived at the Prescott home just before midnight, entered the house, and confronted her husband in his bedroom. An argument ensued, during which Pasqualetto allegedly shot her husband after he reaffirmed his decision to proceed with the divorce.
Despite his injury, the victim managed to disarm Pasqualetto and escape to a neighbor’s house, where a call to 911 was made. Pasqualetto was subsequently booked into the Yavapai County jail. She now faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault. Additional charges of forgery and theft were added after the victim alleged that Pasqualetto had stolen checks and recently cashed a forged check worth $10,000, a crime to which she also reportedly confessed.
