Man arrested for shooting his stepdad to death

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A fatal shooting took place in one of Fort Lauderdale’s upscale neighborhoods. After the deadly incident, a 23-year-old man, identified as Darien Massad Turner, was taken into custody. The young man is now facing charges of first-degree murder as a result of his involvement in the shooting.

The victim of the gunfire has been identified as 44-year-old Christian Colon. He was found by the Fort Lauderdale Police at a mansion on Nurmi Drive, already succumbing to his gunshot injuries. The authorities were summoned to the location on Saturday morning around 10:50 a.m.

With the arrival of the officers, an investigation at the mansion ensued, with the house cordoned off for hours. Family members were visibly distressed as officers frequented the property.

Residents and workers in the area, characterized by its multi-million-dollar homes, expressed their astonishment over the incident. Jesus Sarmiento, who works nearby, stated that such occurrences are not typical.

The unnerving incident also disturbed Raul Fernandez, who was visiting for the Fourth of July weekend and confessed to being unsettled by the massive police presence. Further insight into what provoked the shooting remains undisclosed by the police, who continue with their probe into the matter.
