NEW BRITAIN, CT – A community is in mourning after a tragic domestic incident left a young mother dead and her own mother critically injured. Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for the suspected assailant, the deceased woman’s husband, Christopher Ray, who is now facing murder charges.
Brianna Ray, 30, was remembered by family and friends as a loving and devoted mother to her two young children, aged two and three. Her life was abruptly ended in the early hours of Monday morning when police discovered her with multiple gunshot wounds inside her Prospect Street home. Her mother, who was also shot, remains in critical condition.
“I still can’t believe it,” said Janelle Covington, a close friend of Brianna’s. “She had such a beautiful soul and was always so giving. She loved with all her heart and wouldn’t hurt a fly.” Covington described Brianna as a dedicated mother, daughter, sister, and a registered nurse who had recently achieved her RN certification.
Brianna’s colleagues at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain have been left devastated by the loss. In a statement, the hospital expressed their sorrow and admiration for Brianna, highlighting her dedication to her profession and the people she cared for. “Our hearts go out to her family,” the statement read, “and she will remain in our thoughts as we continue the work she was so passionate about.”
The investigation into this tragedy continues as police seek Christopher Ray, who has been charged in connection with the shooting. Authorities have set his bond at $1 million, urging anyone with information to come forward.
As friends and family grapple with the loss, they remember Brianna’s warmth, compassion, and the profound impact she had on those around her. “I pray for her family,” Covington added. “I hope her mother pulls through so she can hold onto a piece of Brianna through her grandchildren.”
This heartbreaking event has left a void in the community, as those who knew Brianna reflect on her legacy of love and care. The impact of her life and untimely death will be felt for years to come.
