Missing woman found dead in storage tote

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Indianapolis community is reeling after a woman was discovered dead inside a storage tote in a secluded wooded area on the city’s southeast side, prompting an intensive investigation by local authorities.

The deceased, identified by relatives as 36-year-old Tara Capps, was found on Sunday behind a food distribution center on South Keystone, according to family members who received a tip about her potential whereabouts. This shocking discovery concluded a week-long search by the family, who were desperate for answers after Capps was reported missing on June 30.

Virginia Summers, Capps’ grieving mother, spoke out about the horrific finding. She lamented the brutal nature of her daughter’s death, labeling the perpetrator a “monster” for their cruel actions.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), led by Officer William Young, initially began the case as a missing persons investigation but has since classified it as a homicide. Despite ongoing efforts, officials have yet to identify a suspect.

The Indianapolis community, along with the IMPD, continues to seek any information related to this tragic case. Detective Ingram has urged anyone with details to come forward to the authorities, with the promise of anonymity for those who wish to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
