LIGONIER, PA – A man suspected of ending the life of his missing partner was discovered dead on Thursday, according to authorities in Westmoreland County. Roger Angelo Jr. was reportedly determined to have committed suicide.
The investigation unfolded after the disappearance of Amy Shipley, 45, took a tragic turn when her body was found in a shallow grave in Cook Township. Authorities had been investigating the disappearance since September 13, leading them to the discovery of Shipley’s remains on September 17, five days after her alleged death at the hands of Angelo.
On Thursday morning, officials received information about Angelo’s location. According to Ronal Zona, Chief County Detective for Westmoreland County, Angelo was found dead at an address on West Vincent Street, believed to be the crime scene. Angelo, who was set to face charges for Shipley’s murder, died from an apparent self-inflicted stabbing.
As the investigations continue, the community in Ligonier is in mourning. Jaime Lucchetti, a longtime friend of Shipley, described her as having “a big personality” and being “beautiful inside and out.”
Meanwhile, the Shipley family has requested privacy and is reportedly planning a memorial service.
