WARRENVILLE, IL – Authorities arrested Steven Kramer, a 39-year-old Illinois resident, for allegedly murdering his wife, Jaime Neumann. Kramer was charged with shooting Neumann six times during a suspected domestic dispute in their home.
Police were summoned to Kramer’s residence in Warrenville on September 5, roughly around 11 a.m., for a reported cardiac arrest and death situation. Upon arrival, Kramer led the responding officer to his wife’s body in an upstairs bedroom. Neumann, 47, was found lying face-up with noticeable injuries and blood staining her face and body. Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.
According to an autopsy report, Neumann had sustained six gunshot wounds in varying locations, including her face, chest, thigh, and forearm. Following their examination, the authorities concluded that a verbal argument between Kramer and Neumann had escalated to physical violence, culminating in Kramer fatally shooting his wife.
A devastating detail of the incident is that the couple’s 4-year-old daughter was home at the time of the shooting. Kramer subsequently handed himself over to the Warrenville Police Department, who proceeded to detain him.
Warrenville Police Department’s Sam Bonilla expressed his horror at the crime. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin thanked the Police Department for their work and promised a robust prosecution against Kramer.
A DuPage County judge ordered Kramer to stay in jail for the duration of his trial. The loss of Neumann was heavily mourned by the community, with friends creating a fundraising page for her daughters, where they remembered her as a beloved mother and friend.
