GRAND JUNCTION, CO – The discovery of a human head in an abandoned freezer has left new Colorado homeowners terrified and perplexed. The previous homeowners of the Grand Junction residence left behind several items, which the new occupants were cleaning out last Friday. The new homeowners had even advertised online for people to come and pick up the leftover items for free.
One of these items was a deep freezer placed close to the garage. An unidentified neighbor said a chilling discovery was made when the new homeowners were clearing the freezer. They found a black bag that contained a human head.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office was alerted about the gruesome discovery. Deputies are currently considering the case as potential evidence of homicide. Not many details about the case have been released yet. However, the police have reassured the public that this likely represents an “isolated incident” and there is no threat to the community.
Speaking about the ongoing investigation, Wendy Likes, a sheriff’s spokesperson, said that no other details can be released as of yet. Likes added the importance of ensuring that news of a loved one’s death doesn’t reach family members through rumors and hearsay.
The identity of the individual to whom the head belonged is currently unknown. The address’s previous occupants included a mother and her son, who are believed to have moved out on the day the house was sold. According to the neighbor, the pair was quite reserved and hardly had visitors.
