UNIVERSITY PARK, CA – A grave accident on the I-10 Freeway in the University Park region led to the death of one individual and left seven others wounded on Sunday. The incident, as reported by the California Highway Patrol, happened roughly around 3 p.m. in the freeway’s westbound lanes near the Hoover Street off-ramps. However, the conditions that led to this devastating crash remain unclear.
First responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department were able to extract an entrapped adult individual from the wreckage, as stated in a departmental report.
The accident led to five individuals being hospitalized, all presently in varying degrees of critical condition. Among the injured were four young boys, aged three months, six, seven, and ten years old, accompanied by a 29-year-old woman.
Tragically, a 26-year-old man named Jordy Martin Recinos was confirmed dead on the spot of the incident. On-site paramedics also gave medical assistance to another individual who didn’t require transportation to a healthcare facility.
SkyCal news reported severe vehicular damage, showcasing a flipped pickup truck, resting on a vehicle resembling a Tesla. The crash resulted in a considerable amount of debris around the damaged cars.
Traffic flow in the nearby vicinity is expected to face disturbances for an indefinite duration as California Highway Patrol officers continue to investigate the scene.
