Police found three wounded men at two nearby locations after gunfire was reported shortly after midnight Monday.
NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV — One man was killed and two others were wounded in an early Monday shooting that prompted a homicide investigation in a North Las Vegas neighborhood, according to police.
North Las Vegas Police Department officers responded shortly after midnight Nov. 2 to the 1800 block of West McDonald Avenue following a report of gunfire. Officers found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds near West Street and McDonald Avenue. A third wounded man was located nearby in the area of Juanita Circle and Carey Avenue.
All three men were taken to University Medical Center for treatment. Police said one of the men died at the hospital. A second man remained in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, while the third was listed in stable condition.
Police had not released the names or ages of the three men as of Tuesday. The Clark County Coroner’s Office was expected to release the identity of the man who died, along with the official cause and manner of death.
Investigators had not announced any arrests or identified a possible motive. Police also had not publicly explained what happened before the shooting or whether the three men were together when the gunfire began. Detectives continued examining the area Monday as part of the homicide investigation.
KTNV reported that investigators canvassed the neighborhood and that evidence markers could be seen in the street near the area under investigation. A nearby resident told the station that the shooting was concerning because children use West McDonald Avenue while walking to and from school, though he described the neighborhood as normally quiet.
The shooting involved victims found at two locations in the same general area. Police have not said whether shots were fired at both locations or whether any of the wounded men moved after being shot. Authorities also have not released information about a possible suspect or suspects.
The North Las Vegas Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing. No further details about the circumstances of the shooting had been released as of Tuesday.
