(ConservativeStar.com) – Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has formed, which she calls, a “bipartisan commission” which she claimed would be modeled on the one that investigated the attacks of 9/11. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) took to the chamber’s floor and denounced the idea, pointing out that it’s being designed as a partisan entity from the get-go.
Partisan-ism at its Highest
Pelosi’s claim as to the basis of her vision, the 9/11 commission, came under fire not only from the senator but was also criticized by the two top members of the former committee. Former Reps. Tom Kean (R-NJ) and Lee Hamilton (D-IN) have both warned the American people wouldn’t have a lot of confidence in the outcome and that Republicans, in particular, will never accept them, period.
The Speaker’s “discussion draft” envisions the leadership of each party appointing four members and President Joe Biden selecting three, giving the Left a 7-4 majority, and investing subpoena power to only one of the Democrats. Kean and Hamilton both point out that their group was split with five each, which gave it credence to everyone.
Not Narrowly Defined
McConnell also noted that the current idea might not stay focused on the events of January 6 on Capitol Hill; he fears it would cast a wider net. He thinks it’ll be an attempt to include a review of racial violence that erupted across the country in 2020, then says “in that case, we cannot have artificial cherry-picking of which terrible behavior does and which terrible behavior does not deserve scrutiny.”
His concerns have some validity since Pelosi put together a task force to review security issues around the riots and appointed retired Army Lieutenant General Russell Honoré to the team. In an appearance on the Larry King show on July 23, 2020, the general was very critical of former President Donald Trump and his response to Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters.
Since President Biden’s inauguration, neither the Democrats nor the Liberal media have shown much interest in running the country as it’s meant to be. One has to wonder if they care whether or not the American people will buy into their “conclusion?”
