SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Police are actively searching for Matthew Daringer, 35, linked to the murder of Frank Quarenta, aged 67. Daringer is identified as 6’3″, 185 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. The murder took place at Quarenta’s home near 68th Street and McDowell Road, described by police as a purposeful attack.
The case unfolded after Quarenta missed work following Labor Day, prompting a welfare check that led to the discovery of his body. Details on how he died remain undisclosed, but Daringer was already under scrutiny by law enforcement due to prior incidents.
Earlier, Daringer was involved in a spree of violence in downtown Phoenix, attacking three people and their pets in one day. His past criminal activities include an assault on a pedestrian and subsequent attacks on dogs and their owners in the area.
In 2020, Daringer admitted to a gruesome act in Colorado, where he killed and dismembered his roommate’s dogs. This crime led to his arrest and conviction, resulting in an 18-month prison sentence for aggravated animal cruelty.
Known for experiencing homelessness, Daringer often befriends individuals to secure a place to stay. Whether this behavior influenced his relationship with Quarenta is still under investigation.
Attempts to reach Scottsdale Police for updates on the search for Daringer have not been met with a response. The investigation continues, and the public is encouraged to share any information that may assist in locating him.
