Severed leg found in a park

CUDAHY, WI – A suspect is in custody following the grisly discovery of a severed leg in a park earlier this week. On April 5, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) revealed via a Facebook post that a person of interest had been taken into custody three days after the horrific find. MCSO officers, together with other law enforcement agents, had converged on a residence in Milwaukee’s south side to apprehend the individual for questioning.

On April 2, just before 5:30 p.m., Milwaukee County Dispatch received the initial call reporting the find, which prompted a homicide investigation by the MCSO.

According to reports, a man is currently being held at Milwaukee County Jail in connection to the incident. His identity has not yet been released since he has not been formally charged. A raid conducted by law enforcement at his residence led to his detention.

Multiple law enforcement agencies spent several hours at the residence, according to residents near South 39th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue. The Cudahy Police Department shared on Facebook that it’s assisting MCSO in the investigation. Reports also suggest FBI involvement.

Local news sources reported that officers from both MCSO and the Wisconsin Department of Justice had their weapons drawn in the direction of the house during the search, which lasted over 24 hours.

All animals found at the home are now with the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission. MCSO has requested anyone with a credible tip or information related to the case to contact its non-emergency number.
