MEMPHIS, TN – A six-year-old kindergarten student of Germanshire Elementary School in Memphis, Tennessee, was reportedly found carrying a Taurus G2C 9mm handgun in a backpack in a shocking incident that took place on Tuesday. The student’s mother, 26-year-old Tyranny Gray, has been arrested by the police following the incident.
According to local law enforcement, the scenario unfolded when a teacher noted that the child’s backpack was unusually heavy. Upon inspection, she discovered the black handgun inside. Reports indicate that she heard a metallic sound when setting the backpack down.
Following the disturbing discovery, the school administration brought the backpack to the main office and alerted the Memphis police. Gray was also called to the premises.
Upon her arrival, Gray claimed ownership of the found weapon. She produced photos showing the same handgun with a visible serial number to the officers and revealed that she had hidden the gun under a couch in her home. The gun was unloaded at the time of the incident.
Now facing charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect, Gray is being held in jail with a $25,000 bond. Gray is anticipated to appear in court for her hearing on Thursday.
