A teenager has been apprehended in connection with the shooting and subsequent death of his cousin at a motel in north Phoenix. Police responded to reports of the incident near Interstate 17 and Dunlap Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. on April 17.
When they came to the scene, police officers discovered a man on the ground who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 18-year-old Elijah Johnson, was taken to a local hospital where he later passed away. Initial investigations did not immediately result in any suspects being detained.
However, further inquiry led investigators to identify 17-year-old Sir Amir Williamson as the prime suspect in the fatal shooting. According to the police, Williamson had engaged in a verbal altercation with his cousin, Johnson, inside a motel room shortly before the incident occurred. Following the shooting, Williamson fled the scene.
