Teen shoots 10-year-old sister before turning the gun on himself

TROUP COUNTY, GA – Two children, a 15-year-old boy and his 10-year-old sister, are currently admitted at a local hospital following a dramatic shooting incident that occurred Tuesday night in their LaGrange home, according to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say that deputies were called to their residence located on the 1600 block of Bartley Road around 10:41 p.m., where they found the pair suffering from gunshot wounds.

Once on the scene, emergency responses kicked into gear and rushed both juveniles to Wellstar West Georgia Emergency Department for immediate medical attention.

The investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division working on the case believe the incident to be an unfortunate case of fraternal violence wherein the elder brother shot his younger sister before turning the gun on himself.

As yet, the motivations behind the 15-year-old’s inexplicable actions remain unknown. Meanwhile, the siblings were transferred to a hospital in the Atlanta area to facilitate better treatment. Per the latest inputs from the sheriff’s office, the brother is presently battling for his life in critical condition. Information regarding his sister’s condition remains unreported for now.

The case is still subject to investigation and the Troup County Sheriff’s Office has not yet disclosed any further details.
