Three Found Dead, Fourth Hospitalized in South Dallas Home

Police are investigating what caused four people to become unconscious inside a Burger Avenue home Monday afternoon.

DALLAS, TX— Three people were found dead and a fourth person was hospitalized Monday after emergency crews discovered four unconscious people inside a home in South Dallas, authorities said.

Dallas police responded shortly after 1:10 p.m. Aug. 31 to the 2700 block of Burger Avenue after Dallas Fire-Rescue requested assistance. Officers and firefighters found four people unconscious inside the residence. Fire-Rescue personnel pronounced three of them dead at the scene, while the fourth was taken to a hospital.

Dallas police said investigators were working to determine the manner and circumstances of the deaths. Authorities had not announced a cause by Monday evening, and police had not released information indicating what may have caused all four people to become unconscious.

The names, ages and other identifying information for the three people who died had not been released. Authorities also had not publicly identified the hospitalized person. NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reported that the fourth person was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police were treating the case as an unexplained death investigation as detectives gathered information from the home and surrounding area. Authorities had not announced any arrests or identified a suspect, and there was no confirmed public information showing that a crime caused the deaths.

Neighbors told NBC 5 they had seen what appeared to be a party in the area before the people were found. Police had not said whether that activity was connected to the deaths, and investigators had not publicly identified what happened inside the home before emergency responders arrived.

WFAA reported that officers did not find drug paraphernalia at the scene. Authorities had not announced whether drugs, carbon monoxide, another hazardous substance or any other specific factor played a role. The cause of the deaths will depend on the continuing investigation and findings from medical examiners.

The investigation remained active early Tuesday, with police saying additional details about the circumstances surrounding the deaths had not been released. The identities of those who died and an official determination of how they died were also pending.
