Two men stabbed in Ocean Beach bar fight

SAN DIEGO, CA – Early Sunday morning, a violent encounter at a local bar in Ocean Beach led to the stabbing of two men, authorities reported. The incident unfolded around 2:30 a.m. when a dispute escalated and turned into a physical confrontation.

The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) disclosed that a 36-year-old man initiated the violence, stabbing two individuals during the altercation. The victims, whose injuries varied in severity, were urgently transported to a local hospital. One sustained four stab wounds, while the other, initially in critical condition, suffered six.

Following emergency surgeries, both men are currently on the road to recovery. The assailant was apprehended at the scene and now faces two counts of attempted murder.

Despite the bar brawl, the SDPD highlighted their commitment to maintaining safety in the area, noting that their strategic presence in Ocean Beach helps them respond rapidly to such incidents.

Local residents expressed continued confidence in their neighborhood’s safety. “I don’t keep protection on me very often. I don’t really feel that necessary in this area,” shared Wyatt Vogel, a local resident, reflecting the sentiments of many who still perceive Ocean Beach as a secure environment despite the isolated event.

The police are continuing their investigation into the fatal stabbing.
