Woman confesses to shooting her brother in the head

HUNTINGTON, WV – A Huntington woman has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting incident that occurred early Monday morning. Authorities report that the incident stemmed from a family dispute that escalated dramatically.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., Cabell County 911 received a distress call from Seira Harmon, who reported that she had shot her brother, William Harmon, in the head. Responding deputies arrived at the family’s residence on Charley’s Creek in Culloden to find Seira Harmon, who confirmed the shooting.

Sheriff Chuck Zerkle of Cabell County reported that according to Seira Harmon’s account of the incident, her brother had her fiancé at gunpoint. She fired the shot believing that her gun was on safety, claiming that the shooting was accidental. However, William Harmon succumbed to his injuries and died.

Sheriff Zerkle expressed skepticism about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. “It was late/early morning hours, some impairment was involved. Things just didn’t add up and she was charged with first-degree murder,” he explained. Factors such as the proximity of the wound and other inconsistencies led authorities to suspect foul play.

Seira Harmon is currently being held in custody on a first-degree murder charge. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events that led to this tragic family confrontation.

This incident has shocked the local community, and further developments are awaited as the legal process unfolds.
