Customer stabs Wendy’s employee to death

HONOLULU, HI – A violent altercation at a Wendy’s restaurant in Nanakuli resulted in the death of one employee and serious injuries to another. The suspect, a 60-year-old man, has been charged with murder and contempt of court.

Honolulu Police Department logs reveal that Reynaldo Cheney was taken into custody following the Sunday morning incident on Farrington Highway. Authorities reported that the conflict erupted just before 10 a.m., involving Cheney as the customer and two Wendy’s employees.

The confrontation began when Cheney, while rearranging furniture, was approached by a 22-year-old employee who requested he stop, according to police. The situation quickly deteriorated after Cheney allegedly insulted the employee using derogatory language.

When the verbal spar escalated, a 44-year-old colleague attempted to de-escalate matters and escorted Cheney outside. The argument continued to intensify in the parking area, leading to physical violence.

Police stated that the 22-year-old employee physically attacked Cheney, who then retaliated by stabbing both workers. Emergency responders treated the employees on-site before transporting them to a nearby hospital. Sadly, the younger employee succumbed to his injuries.
