Drive-by shooters target home with 6 children inside

EASTPOINTE, MI – An early morning drive-by shooting in Eastpointe led to a dramatic arrest of two men in St. Clair County on Tuesday, June 25. The incident unfolded just before 1:15 a.m. near Forest and Phlox avenues, south of 10 Mile Road, where a man allegedly opened fire on a residence following a dispute with his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend. Eastpointe Police reported that multiple shots were fired into the home, which had several people inside, including six children. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The suspect fled from the scene after the crime scene. Authorities tracked him to a residence in Casco Township in St. Clair County, believing him to be headed there. Upon arrival, law enforcement encountered two men and a woman exiting the house. The men, one of whom was armed with a rifle, quickly retreated back inside and barricaded themselves.

Efforts to negotiate with the suspects were initiated but ultimately led to the deployment of the St. Clair County SWAT team and the Port Huron Special Response Team. The teams executed a search warrant, successfully apprehending the two men.

Details regarding the identities of the suspects have not been disclosed. The incident is under close investigation, and the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to review the evidence and determine the appropriate charges.
