Drive-by shooting leaves teen dead, girlfriend injured

MIRAMAR, FL – A violent incident unraveled on Sunday night when a teenage boy was fatally shot. The gunfire also left his girlfriend critically injured in Miramar, Florida.

The Miramar Police Department reported that they had responded to the shooting incident in the area of 3600 S University Drive shortly before 8 p.m. Police found a white Hyundai Sonata with bullet holes at the scene, inside of which sat a 17-year-old boy and his girlfriend.

According to the investigators, it’s believed that while the couple was heading southbound, an individual in a separate car opened fire on them. The motive behind the attack is unclear, and authorities haven’t determined whether the teenagers were the intended target.

Both teens were hurried to the Memorial Regional Hospital for immediate medical attention. However, the boy did not survive his injuries. The girl, although her condition is serious, is expected to recover.

The identities of the victims haven’t been disclosed by the authorities as of now. The police have made no headway in identifying the shooter or obtaining a description of the vehicle involved in the incident.

To expedite the investigation, the police are offering a reward of $5,000 for any information that may lead to an arrest.
