Free COVID-19 Test Kits Coming Soon From the Postal Service

(ConservativeStar.com) – The COVID-19 Omicron variant has set the world back into record-setting levels of reported infections since it was first announced in late November. And while it seems to be less deadly than other mutations, it and other expected variants still pose a significant health risk. To that end, President Joe Biden made a promise to make rapid antigen tests and N95 face masks available to Americans for free, and the website for ordering the test kit is now active.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) will be delivering the kits and have taken the lead on test ordering. Each household may order up to four tests at COVIDtests.gov. It’s expected to take 7 to 12 business days after ordering for the kits to ship, and the first group won’t mail out until later in January. The first 20% of test kits each day will be sent to ZIP codes with high rates of infection.

The administration also said they’ll make 400 million high-quality N95 face coverings from the Strategic National Stockpile available at pharmacies and community health centers at no cost. The logistics of these rollouts may prove slower than most would like considering that mail delivery has been somewhat spotty in parts of the country because of fallout from the recent surge.
