GILROY, CA – In a deadly accident early Monday morning, two lives were lost in a head-on collision on Highway 25 near Gilroy. Among the victims was Priscilla Jones, a 35-year-old mother of three and a dedicated 911 emergency dispatcher cherished within her community.
Jones was on her way to work when her 2012 Dodge Charger collided with a 2018 Nissan Sentra that crossed into her lane. Both drivers, including the 24-year-old Nissan driver Erick Andrade from Gilroy, succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Jones was employed by Santa Clara County 911 Communications, where her compassionate nature was universally recognized. Her workplace paid tribute by highlighting her professionalism and pride in serving the community, as well as her devotion to her family. Jones leaves behind a husband and three children, who were the focus of her life beyond her career.
She was particularly celebrated for assisting in a remarkable 911 call in 2019, during which she guided a caller through childbirth over the phone. Her follow-up visit revealed the birth of twins, further solidifying her legacy as a caring and thorough dispatcher.
In addition to her work at 911 Communications, Jones co-owned Mmm Churros, a business she ran with her husband in Hollister. The duo had recently expanded by acquiring a downtown storefront. Omar Rosa, CEO of the Downtown Hollister Association, praised Jones for her dedication not only to her family but also to her community, recalling her generosity during a local charity event.
The California Highway Patrol continues their investigation into the details surrounding the crash, which led to the closure of Highway 25 for five hours. As they seek answers, Jones’ life and contributions to both her family and community remain widely honored and mourned.
