Man found shot to death in parking lot

JOLIET, IL – A deadly incident took place late on Wednesday night, prompting Joliet police to initiate a homicide investigation. The incidents occurred in the 2300 block of White Birch Lane, where multiple reports of gunfire had been received around 11:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, police officers found a 25-year-old man in the vicinity, who was unresponsive and showing signs of numerous gunshot wounds. He had been located in the parking area of a nearby apartment building.

Despite attempted resuscitation efforts on the scene until paramedics from the Joliet Fire Department arrived, the man passed away. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital, where his death was confirmed.

Identifying information and the cause of death will be released following confirmation by the Will County Coroner’s Office. Forensic evidence collected during the ongoing investigation revealed the startling find of 20 spent bullet casings near the victim’s location.

In addition to this, three cars parked near the scene and an apartment window appeared to have been struck by bullets in relation to the incident. No other casualties were identified or reported during this violent occurrence. Finding the suspect or potentially plural offenders is currently the focus of Joliet Police Department detectives.
