Man shoots toddler daughter and her mother in horrific murder-suicide

In a tragic incident that has shaken the Franklin community in New Hampshire, a man is believed to have fatally shot his toddler daughter and her mother. The shooting took place on Saturday and ended with him taking his own life.

The suspected perpetrator, 42-year-old Jamie Bell, is believed to have killed approximately 35-year-old Nicole Hughes and their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Ariella Bell, in a residence on Elkins Street. Officials indicated that Bell had a close relationship with Hughes, although they refrained from elaborating on the nature of their connection.

In addition to the tragic deaths, Hughes’ five-year-old daughter was also injured in the incident. Reportedly shot in her right arm and also suffering a laceration on her back, she was promptly transported to a hospital.

Officials offered some reassurance, stating her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. It was further noted that Bell is not believed to be the girl’s biological father.

Later in the day, following an intense search operation, Bell was found deceased on the banks of the Merrimack River. He was found with a serious neck wound, which officials believe to be self-inflicted, leading to his death.

Forensic examinations are due to be conducted on Sunday for Bell, his daughter Ariella, and Hughes to determine the specific causes of their untimely deaths.

Personnel from the Major Crime Unit were called to the scene on Saturday evening to further investigate this horrific event.
