ELKHORN, WI – Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a newlywed couple inside the Sports Page Barr in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Gina Weingart, 37, and her husband Emerson Weingart, 33, were gunned down at the venue late on Thursday night.
According to Elkhorn Police Department news releases, a call came in around 12:11 a.m. local time on Friday reporting a shooting and a “person down” at the bar.
Upon arrival, officers from both the police department and the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office found the couple deceased. Gina was a part-time bartender at the Sports Page Barr, where Emerson would often keep her company during her late-night shifts.
Emerson’s father, Jeff Weingart, expressed his grief and frustration at the tragic loss. “I can’t believe that it was just her and him in the bar. So somebody saw them, and somebody had to give a description of them, and somebody had to see the car when he drove away, and they better find him,” he said.
Currently, no arrests have been made connected to the investigation.
According to a shared obituary, Gina and Emerson were wed in June 2023. Emerson managed a department at a grocery store, while Gina also worked at Wisconsin Vision Associates. The couple enjoyed fishing together, with Emerson being a sports enthusiast and Gina a karaoke lover.
