Teen shot dead at bus stop, four more injured

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A teenage boy was killed and four other people were injured in a shooting at a SEPTA bus stop. The deadly incident took place in Philadelphia’s Ogontz neighborhood.

Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel confirmed that two armed individuals initiated the shooting spree around 3:45 p.m., resulting in the death of a 17-year-old boy at the intersection of Ogontz and Godfrey.

Bethel outlined the harrowing incident, stating, “The bus is stopped, people are starting to board the bus, and that’s when we have two individuals come up and start to fire, shooting him and unfortunately killing him.”

Two women, aged 49 and 71, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot on a Route 6 SEPTA bus. Additionally, two 15-year-old boys stabbed in the incident were listed as stable.

The crime scene, extending to the 1600 block Limekiln Pike, witnessed a high police presence. Bethel estimates around 15 to 20 people were waiting for the bus when the gunfire began.

The shooting occurred near a local daycare, much to the shock of neighborhood residents. Police are currently analyzing surveillance footage but have so far made no arrests.

Authorities are now encouraging anyone who has relevant information to come forward and contact them.
