Teenage boy stabbed while trying to protect his mom from home intruder

LONGVIEW, WA – A 14-year-old teenager heroically stepped up to shield his mother from an intruder and suffered severe injuries in a stabbing incident in Longview, Washington. According to the Longview Police Department, Branson Luck, 22, broke into the family’s home Tuesday evening and launched a violent assault.

Police officers responded to a disturbance call around 8:20 p.m. on March 12 regarding a reported incident of multiple stabbings at a residence. Upon arrival, they spotted Luck. He was visibly stained with blood and standing in front of the house. He was immediately taken into custody.

The law enforcement investigation has established that Luck forcefully made his way into the house and attacked a 31-year-old woman with a knife. Her teenage son thrust himself upon the scene in an effort to protect his mother and ended up being stabbed as well.

The arrested suspect has also been linked to an earlier attempted armed robbery that had occurred in the vicinity approximately 10 minutes prior to the invasion and attack on the mother and son. While no injuries were reported in the robbery attempt, victims did allege that Luck had brandished a knife.

Upon entering the house, police officers discovered both the mother and son inside the home, both bearing severe but non-life-threatening injuries inflicted by the stabbing. The knife believed to be used during the attack and other pieces of incriminating evidence were also found by detectives at the scene.

The police department has announced that the investigations surrounding the incidents are active and ongoing.
