Teens arrested for Applebee’s parking lot shooting that left man dead

Authorities in Gwinnett County, Georgia are currently investigating a shooting that took a man’s life in the parking lot of a local chain restaurant. The incident occured on Monday, July 17th, around 10:30 p.m. Police officers from the South Precinct were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a person shot.

The victim, Harris Baysassie, a 21-year-old from Lilburn, lost his life during the altercation that took place on Monday night. The incident occurred in the parking lot situated between Applebee’s and O’Reilly Auto Parts on Stone Mountain Highway near Snellville. Baysassie was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The Gwinnett County Police Department has been actively canvassing local businesses in search of any surveillance footage that may provide crucial information about the incident. At this time, there is no indication that the victim had dined at the Applebee’s prior to the shooting.

Gwinnett County police have recently made significant progress in their investigation of the fatal shooting. Authorities in Gwinnett County have apprehended two teenagers in connection to Baysassie’s death. Tristyn Derriun Mays, 17, and Nyzerrius Carter, 19, both residents of Lawrenceville, have been apprehended and face multiple charges, including felony murder.

While two individuals have been arrested, the Gwinnett County police are actively seeking any additional suspects who may have been involved in the crime. Sgt. Michele Pihera stated that detectives are diligently working to identify and apprehend any other individuals connected to the fatal shooting. It was previously reported that Baysassie may have been engaged in a gunfight with others before he was shot.

In recent years, there has been an increase in violent incidents in public spaces, prompting authorities to enhance security measures. The Gwinnett County Police Department is working diligently to gather evidence and bring the shooters to justice.
