CHICAGO, IL – A horrific shooting event resulted in injuries to six individuals, in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on Saturday afternoon. A newborn baby was also among the victims in the terrifying incident. The quarrel broke out around 12:14 p.m. along the 7900 block of South Wood Street.
The victims, identified as a 40-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, were in a car with two other females whose ages were undisclosed and a newborn infant. They were unexpectedly targeted by an unidentified male shooter while they were inside of the car.
The group attempted to escape, causing their vehicle to overturn and collide with two parked cars, according to the Chicago police.
Medical care was promptly sought for the adult male, who was in fair condition at The University of Chicago Hospital. The man was suffering from a gunshot wound to his right arm. Simultaneously, the woman, despite a grazing wound to the stomach, was reported in good condition at Christ Hospital.
The remaining passengers, including the newborn, were taken to local hospitals for precautionary examination. As of the latest updates, no arrests had been made related to the incident. Investigations into the incident are ongoing under the supervision of Area 2 detectives.
